Scenic view of the snow covered Front Range Rocky Mountains from Union Reservoir.
Union Reservoir is a 736 acre body of water providing many outdoor recreational in Longmont Colorado, Boulder County. The reservoir was originally called Calkins Lake, it was carved out during the last glacial age and is one of only a few true natural lakes in Colorado. In the year of 1903, the Union Ditch Company started drilling a tunnel to release water into the St. Vrain Creek. According to Colorado water law, that made Union a true reservoir.
